About

The Person In The Practice.

Not a finished authority. Not a completed teacher. A human being carrying a serious inquiry — and inviting others into the conversation.

The Human Being

A life that refuses a single category.

Eric Anthony Jones, known publicly as Ruler In Peace™

Eric Anthony Jones, known publicly as Ruler In Peace™, is the founder of The Peacemakers Movement™. His life has crossed law, entrepreneurship, leadership, creative work, music, writing, and peacebuilding. At sixty, he is undertaking The Peacemaker’s Passage™, a multi-country lived inquiry. His work asks what helps a human being remain truthful, dignified, and capable of contribution under pressure.

Ruler In Peace™ is the public identity of Eric Anthony Jones. His body of work brings together writing, music, keynotes, teaching, and daily practice.

Thirteen years practicing law — where questions about justice, integrity, and how to serve humanity emerged not as abstractions but as daily decisions. Years building businesses and leading teams under pressure and uncertainty. Work in fashion and creative direction. Music that became Scrolls of Sound™. Writing that continues to accumulate. Speaking. Teaching. Ordination as a chaplain. Formal and informal study across traditions. Each chapter carried its own insistent questions about what governs a human being when circumstances demand a choice.

At sixty, he is undertaking The Peacemaker's Passage™ — a multi-country lived inquiry through direct encounter rather than tourism.

Former Commissioner, American Bar Association Commission on Immigration

These do not describe several careers. They describe one question, followed patiently through the different rooms life opened — and refined by what each room required him to discover about himself and about what human beings actually need in order to remain human.

Law taught argument and consequence. Entrepreneurship taught decision under pressure. Creative work taught form and courage. Music taught listening. Chaplaincy taught presence. Travel taught proportion. Writing taught honesty.

The through-line has always been the same: what a human being becomes, and what a human being contributes.

The Question Beneath The Work

What The Work Is Actually Asking.

What helps a human being remain present, truthful, dignified, discerning, relational, agentic, creative, and capable of contribution — under the actual pressures of a life?

This is the question underneath everything the ecosystem holds. Not a slogan. Not a brand promise. A working inquiry that emerged from decades of lived experience — from encounters with success and failure, love and loss, leadership and humility, certainty and doubt. These are not questions Eric studied from a distance. They became questions he had to answer for himself in order to know how he wanted to live and what he wanted to contribute.

Across The Peacemaker’s Passage™, Eric is examining nine human capacities: mindful awareness, regulation, perception, truthfulness, dignity, judgment, relationship, agency, and contribution. Mindful awareness means noticing what is happening within and around us and returning our attention to the present with openness and care.

This inquiry takes different forms across the work. Morning Fire™ brings it into daily practice. The Peacemaker’s Passage™ carries it into encounters across countries, cultures and faith traditions. The writing, music and speaking explore what those experiences reveal about the capacities human beings need to sustain dignity, discernment, dialogue and peace.

Not the human being as consumer. Not the human being as optimized asset. The human being as the site where truth, choice, and contribution actually happen.

Human Sustainability means preserving human dignity and developing the capacities that help us exercise agency, discern truth, regulate ourselves, make moral choices, and sustain meaningful relationships.

The question is not simply whether humanity can survive technological change. It is whether we can preserve our humanity through that change—and remain capable of peace when peace becomes difficult.

They are one body of work, not three projects. In Eric Anthony Jones's view, Human Sustainability depends on people remaining the authority. And if people do not remain the authority, they cannot have peace either. Together, these questions shape the inquiry.

Where To Begin

Several doors stand open.

There is no single entry point. Different people enter through different forms of the work. Choose what speaks to your condition now.

THE PEACEMAKER'S PASSAGE™

If you want to encounter the lived inquiry — a multi-country exploration of human capacity under real conditions.

PUBLIC WORK

If you want writing, speaking, music, conversations, and various forms of public expression around the inquiry.

MORNING FIRE™

If you want to begin a personal practice of alignment, presence, and capacity within your own daily life.

You belong in this inquiry. Choose what meets you where you are.

A Different Question

What the work causes you to notice.

You came to this page wanting to know who Eric Anthony Jones is.

But perhaps the more consequential question is this:

What in your own life is calling you to develop? What capacities are you being asked to cultivate? What does it mean for you to remain present, truthful, dignified, and capable of contribution under the pressures you actually face?

The work Eric carries is not a finished answer. It is an invitation to the inquiry that belongs to every human being.

That inquiry is real. Your participation in it matters.

The Work Now

What Eric is actively doing.

The work is not finished. It continues to take form.

THE PEACEMAKER'S PASSAGE™

A multi-country lived inquiry into human capacity, dignity, and peace through direct encounter across cultures and contexts. Unfolding now.

MORNING FIRE™

A practice of five pillars — a phone-free start, hydration, sit and breathe, spiritual alignment, and movement — before the day begins. A way to meet one's own humanity.

WRITING REFLECTION

Essays, reflections, books, and intellectual work developed through years of inquiry, teaching, and lived experience.

MUSIC SOUND

Music, Scrolls of Sound™, and creative expression through audio. Some inquiry prefers to be heard rather than read.

In Eric’s words: “Scrolls of Sound™ brings together my MusicPeaces™—songs and immersive instrumentals from my heART, inviting you to Know Thyself, Seize the Day, and nourish your soul through Soul Food Music.”

SPEAKING, TEACHING PUBLIC CONVERSATIONS

Teaching, keynotes, workshops, and dialogue around human development, peace, leadership, capacity, and contribution.

The Name

Interestingly, twenty years ago, when Eric's law practice established its governing framework, it was organized around language strikingly similar to this inquiry: serving humanity through law, grounded in human dignity, respect, compassion, integrity, fairness, and commitment to constructive resolution. The vocabulary has evolved substantially, but the concern with how human beings are treated — and how one chooses to treat other human beings — has remained consistent across decades and very different contexts.

Why Ruler In Peace.

"Ruler" does not primarily mean domination over other people. Governance begins with the human being — with the capacity to govern one's own responses, choices, attention, conduct, judgment, and contribution while remaining in genuine relationship with others.

Peace is not passivity. It is the state of internal alignment and relational integrity from which meaningful contribution becomes possible. Peace is the condition under which a human being can remain human and remain effective.

Together: Ruler In Peace means the capacity to govern oneself — and one's contribution — from a place of genuine peace. Not as domination. As agency. As dignity. As capacity.

A Life Still In Development

Not Standing Outside. Standing Inside.

Eric is not standing outside human development teaching finished answers to everyone else. He is inside the inquiry himself — wrestling with the same questions he invites others to examine.

The work includes examining his own assumptions, choices, contradictions, relationships, disciplines, beliefs, failures, discoveries, capacities, and development. The inquiry is not theoretical. It has been forged in real conditions: in courtrooms and boardrooms, in relationships and losses, in spiritual seeking and creative work, in encounters across cultures, and in the daily discipline of trying to remain present and truthful when pressure, fear, or habit would be easier.

This is not false humility or manufactured confession. It is the honest structure of human development: we can only speak authentically from inside the inquiry, tested against reality, not from the finished place we claim to have already reached.

That distinction matters. It changes what the work is asking of you.
